2026
Boston Children’s Museum
Our May event was a sponsored free visit for Massachusetts and some Connecticut families to the Boston Children’s Museum. Kids made some new T1D friends while families explored the museum together.
Beauty & the Beast at the Bushnell
67 community members enjoyed a fun subsidized night watching Beauty & the Beast at the Bushnell Theatre. Our annual fancy night out is always a treasured memory for families, making connections with others that are just like them.
Designer Bag Fundraiser
Our annual Designer Bag fundraiser was well attended, with guests enjoying yummy food, connecting with others, and winning amazing bags and auction items. The over $7,000 in donations raised after event expenses will power our scholarships and programs for families living with T1D.
Breakthrough T1D Summit
The Elbowbumpkid team had such a fun time at our table at the Breakthrough T1D summit. Saige participated in the sports panel, helping other families learn how to manage T1D when skiing and playing sports.
2025
Legoland Discovery Center, Boston
60 community members from MA and CT joined us at our first ever Legoland Discovery Center event. Families paired off by age to discover all the adventures together and then gathered for a magical moment of ice cream for all T1D’s and siblings. We truly thank Merlin’s Magic Wand for another spectacular partnership event.
Red Sox IMPACT Award
The Red Sox Foundation and Manning Family Foundation’s 2025 IMPACT Award focused on organizations that support the Type 1 Diabetes community. Elbowbumpkid Inc was the 1st Place winner for Connecticut.
Holiday Lights at Lake Compounce
60 community members joined us at Lake Compounce for our annual holiday lights family event, with tickets fully subsidized for T1D’s and partially for family members thanks to the generosity of Elbowbumpkid donors.
Connecticut Sun Game
40 community members enjoyed an afternoon women’s basketball game thanks to the generosity of the Connecticut Sun. Kids sat together and chatted while we rooted for the home team. They won!
Low Blood Sugar Kits
Elbowbumpkid Inc distributed low blood sugar kits to T1D children at the Friends of Feeney backpack event — juice boxes, fruit snacks, stickers, applesauce pouches, medical alert bracelets and fully loaded backpacks.
2024
Legoland Magical Day Out
100 community members enjoyed a magical day out at Legoland, NY, thanks to a partnership with Merlin’s Magic Wand. Both T1D’s and siblings enjoyed a magical treat and the opportunity to have a fun day out with other children that are just like them!
Red Sox Game
82 community members enjoyed a Red Sox game with our subsidized tickets & sponsored concession credit!
Teddy Bear Clinic
The Elbowbumpkid team helped coordinate and volunteered at the 4th annual Teddy Bear Clinic, a partnership to teach the youngest T1D’s how to take care of their diabetes through their new teddy bear.
2023 and earlier
Legoland NY for T1D Families (2023)
75 members of our T1D community were granted a wish day at Legoland NY thanks to a partnership with Merlin’s Magic Wand Foundation. Legoland New York also ensured each T1D child had Reserve Ride access so no child was sidelined by treating their diabetes.
Fundraisers (2019–2023)
From our first Designer Handbag Fundraiser in October 2019 through brewery fundraisers at Eli Cannon’s and Powder Hollow, our community has gathered year after year to power scholarships and programs — including virtual fundraisers that kept us connected in 2020 and 2021.
Ongoing
Parents of T1D children join together for an informal support group, quarterly mom’s nights, caregiver nights and gluten-free community events for families managing celiac disease alongside T1D.
